GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- U.S. Senator Cory Gardner of Colorado visits Grand Junction to recognize opportunity zone development.
Gardner visited Community Hospital Saturday morning along with Housing and Urban Development (HUD) officials. They were celebrating Community being the first hospital to be refinanced under opportunity zone incentives.
The re-financing will help the hospital continue to grow and innovate as the Grand Valley’s population also grows.
After his visit at Community, Gardner attended a groundbreaking ceremony for new housing developments near 25 Rd. and Patterson Rd. These housing units developed by Parsonex Properties LLC were made possible through opportunity zone incentives.
Opportunity zones were created under a 2017 federal tax law to encourage investment in low-income or rural communities.
